One again, in 2012, we decided not to give Christmas gifts to our business partners and instead support “die Arche” in Frankfurt/Griesheim. The aim of this association is to get kids off the street and to act against social deficits. In the meantime 18 locations in Germany make sure that the children get hot meals, homework help and meaningful leisure activities.
The first eventful years of “DIE ARCHE” in Frankfurt have passed quickly, much good has already been achieved. The children at the Berthold Otto School in Griesheim accept the offer of “DIE ARCHE” with enthusiasm. Many children, who were previously without care, have now a focal point. This ensures confidence.
Meanwhile, “die Arche” cared for 110 children a day with free lunch and offered ways to play and homework help. Cooperation with the school is outstanding and very effective, especially with children from difficult backgrounds. Teachers already report that homework is done more frequently and that school performance has improved.
“Die Arche” was very well received in the Griesheim district. The solid team of employees supporting facility manager Daniel Schroeder, is now enhanced by 35 volunteers. Each of them helps on a weekday. This expanded the offer for the children on-site. Thus, there is now additional tutoring for students and others sports, dance, music and theater workshops.
Daniel Schroeder’s conclusion of “die Arche” Frankfurt: “The children have welcomed us warmly and with great joy.”
